ISAIAH 58 EXPERIENCE

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke” (Isaiah 58:6, NIV).

WHAT IS THIS?

This is meant to help northern Indiana teens learn what hunger feels like while experiencing the relationship between fasting and prayer, discovering people locally and even globally who are not as fortunate, and learn how to make a difference in others with the blessings we have been given.

The age group for this experience is 12 through high school and friends outside of Cornerstone are welcome. If you can't attend or if you are considering being an adult driver/helper, we highly encourage you to join us in the fast.

More information about the next event will be posted when dates and costs are finalized. Please see Sandy Cornell for information on being an adult driver/helper.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

In our first ever Isaiah 58 event, we had 16 kids take part in this 2 day journey. These kids were split between the Worship Center (girls) and the Ministry Center (boys) for the night and slept in or on cardboard boxes to experience what it is like to be without shelter for the night.

FUNDS RAISED

In the first ever event, we raised $2,736.82! The kids blew their goal of $2,000 out of the water.

This money went towards a local organization called Isaiah 6:8, which is a group that takes mission trips to Honduras to help build homes and churches. More information on this group can be found here

POUNDS OF FOOD

Also in the first event, we collected 762 pounds of food!

This non-perishable food was collected for a local food pantry, County Line Food Pantry, that helps feed those that are in need in the local area.
